Exploring Cervical Orgasms
By Ruby Josif
Orgasm is a beautiful part of our sexual experiences, and everyone’s body will experience them differently. Studies suggest that approximately only 20% of women experience orgasm from vaginal penetration alone. This means that the most reliable way for the vast majority of female bodied people to achieve orgasm is through other forms of sexual stimulation, namely clitoral stimulation or combinations of internal and external pleasure.
However, if you’re curious about experiencing internal orgasms, don’t let these statistics discourage you. It's important to remember that just because you haven’t experienced an internal orgasm yet doesn’t mean you can’t. This is a crucial distinction to make.
In my opinion, this statistic does not reflect the pleasure potential of those with female bodies but is rather a result of inadequate education on how our bodies and female pleasure and arousal work. Many women have never been taught about the infinite pleasure potential they possess or the ingredients needed to begin unlocking different facets of it.
Cervical orgasms are just one of the beautiful internal orgasmic experiences available to us. Oftentimes, it just takes a little time and practice to learn how to soften and stimulate our cervix, making pleasure and orgasm accessible in this way.
Understanding Your Cervix
Cervical orgasms are distinct from clitoral or other types of orgasms. They originate from a combination of direct internal stimulation of the cervix, feeling deeply relaxed and present in your body, and taking your time.
Your cervix is the opening to the uterus and sits at the deepest part of the vagina. You can locate your cervix using a finger or a pleasure wand; it feels almost donut-shaped to the touch.
Also, your cervix moves throughout your menstrual cycle, sitting higher and firmer during ovulation and lower and softer around menstruation. Like many parts of our body, the cervix can hold tension and emotions, which may require de-armoring to release.
Tips for Exploring Cervical Orgasms
1. Take Your Time
-
Full-Body Turn-On: Before any penetration, give yourself as much time as you need to fully relax and feel aroused. Start with a full-body massage to awaken your senses and relax your mind. This can help you tune into your body's signals and increase arousal before moving to your genitals.
-
Slow Awakening: Give yourself permission to take your time. Touch yourself slowly and without expectation. Cervical orgasms require softness and receptivity from your whole body and cervix, which takes time to cultivate.
-
Follow, Don’t Force: Allow your body to respond naturally without rushing. Practice following the sensations of pleasure in your body and cervix, rather than forcing them into existence.
2. Use Your Breath
-
Soften Your Body: Use your breath to soften any parts of your body that you’re clenching or holding tension.
-
Connect Breath to Your Pelvic Floor: Inhale deeply while engaging your pelvic floor muscles, then exhale to soften them. This technique can enhance the pleasure you feel internally and supports awareness of your cervix.
-
Breath as an Anchor: Cervical orgasms require embodiment. Use your breath as an anchor to bring you back into your body when you find your mind wandering.
3. Explore Solo
-
Familiarise Yourself: Take some time to explore your cervix. Understand where it is and how it feels when touched.
-
Be Gentle: Approach this exploration with patience, without expectation, and use plenty of lubricant for a smooth experience. It may take a few tries, so be gentle and patient with your body and self.
-
Experiment with Techniques: How you experience cervical pleasure will be unique to you. Experiment with different touches, pressures, strokes, and speeds to discover what you like. Remember, this may change depending on your cycle.
4. Techniques to Try
-
Deep and Slow: Try deep, slow strokes with a finger or pleasure wand, pausing for a moment when connecting with your cervix.
-
Unmoving Pressure: Hold your finger or pleasure wand on your cervix and apply pressure, making only minor movements with your finger, tool, or pelvis.
-
Speed Up Strokes: You may want to increase pace and pressure as arousal and pleasure build.
-
Grinding: Don’t hesitate to move and grind your hips to get that energy flowing.
-
Make Sound: Our throats and cervix are connected via the vagus nerve. Deepen your embodiment and open and soften your cervix by simultaneously opening your throat through sound.
Tools for Exploration
Sometimes, our fingers aren’t quite long enough for cervical exploration. I suggest pairing Yinn's oil-based lubricant with the Zyra or Luna pleasure wand. This delicious combination can enhance your experience by giving you deeper reach as you explore internally.
Cervical orgasms often feel quite different from clitoral orgasms, with many women describing them as deep, heart-centered, and full-bodied. By taking your time, breathing deeply, and exploring your body, you can discover how this uniquely feels for you. Everyone’s body and pleasure journey is different, so go slow, release expectations, get curious, and lean in.
